Brighton’s Summer Social Skills Camp: “Social Skills through Sports and Games” is designed to provide elementary students with multiple opportunities to learn and practice socially important skills in a fun and engaging play-based summer camp environment.
Through sports, games, interactive activities and role plays, social skills lessons and real-time coaching will focus on creating positive interactions with peers, including perspective-taking, conversation skills, sportsmanship, friendship-building, teamwork and basic conflict resolution strategies.
Activities will include a variety of sports & outdoor games; arts & crafts; cooking, baking, and community activities. Staff will support and encourage participants to apply the skills that they are learning in natural settings across the day.
Participants: Elementary students in grades 1 – 4; and grades 5 – 8 (groups will be assembled based on age)
Dates: Session 1: July 3 – 7, 2017
Session 2: July 10 – 14, 2017
Session 3: July 17 – 21, 2017
Session 4: July 24 – 28, 2017
Fees: $425/week includes lunches and a camp T-shirt!
Hours: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Location: Brighton School, 240 The Donway West (off Lawrence, between Leslie & Don Mills)
Lunch: Lunch is included in the fee and will be provided by Rose Reisman’s Children’s Lunch Program. Lunch order forms will be sent with registration confirmation.
After Care: After Care is available between 4:00pm – 5:00pm daily for a flat fee of $10/day.
Supervision: Groups will be staffed at a 1:4 ratio
